2027 QAM MENTORS

Queer|Art is pleased to announce the new Mentors for the 2027 Queer|Art|Mentorship (QAM) program cycle. The Mentorship program is the cornerstone of Queer|Art’s work, providing a platform of support for LGBTQ+ artists focused on creative issues and long-term sustainability of artistic practice. Now in its 16th year, the organization’s celebrated year-long creative and professional development program supports both remote and in-person participation between early-career and established LGBTQ+ artists from across the country.

Queer|Art proudly welcomes eight new Mentors to the program: Isabel Sandoval, Lucila Moctezuma, Michelle Handelman, Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Chris Vargas, Xandra Ibarra, and matteline deVries-dilling. Joining them are four returning Mentors: Alexis DeVeaux, Pamela Sneed, Moe Angelos, and Mashuq Mushtaq Deen.

Click through the Mentor profiles below to learn more about them, their creative practice, and their diverse approaches to mentorship. Learn more about applying to the program here.

INFO SESSIONS

There are two upcoming opportunities to learn more about the 2027 QAM program cycle. First, on Wednesday, May 20th at 12 PM EST, join Queer|Art staff for a QAM Info Session on Zoom. Staff will share more about the program’s history and impact, and share details around the two-part application process. Later, on Wednesday, June 3rd at 3 PM EST, meet us back on Zoom for “Meet the Mentors,” a virtual event introducing our new cohort of Mentors. The 2027 Mentors will share more about their work, their interests in mentorship, and some of the ways they feel they are best suited to mentor another artist.
