Meet the Queer|Art|Pride Vendors!

On Friday, June 23rd, Queer|Art is joining forces with Body Hack for a massive Pride extravaganza at Nowadays! From 3–8PM, we’re throwing a sprawling queer vendor fair in Nowadays’ outdoor space, with an unbeatable 2-for-1 drinks happy hour deal. The fair will convene 29 amazing local queer artisans and creatives, who will be selling a diverse array of goods, services, and artworks. We’re talking garments, jewelry, tarot readings, tattoos, tinctures, stickers, pottery, floral arrangements, accessories, miniatures, candles, zines, and more. We truly have gadgets and gizmos a-plenty, and who's-its and what's-its galore!

Mariquitx (@mariquitx) — a visual and tattoo artist from Argentina. Their work as a tattooer is dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable, and accessible experience for queer people. During each session, they practice care and empathy, providing space for trauma-informed communication, making sure that each client can feel comfortable and relaxed during the tattoo process.

Charmaine Bee (@charmainenbee) — a visual artist and herbalist using mediums such as sound, video, writing, movement and textile, including wearable pieces. Bee’s Well Apothecary focuses on herbal medicinal formulas that support people in working within the dream realm through lucid dreaming and dream recall.

The Revolutionary Mushroom (@therevolutionarymushroom) — created by Mugwort, a queer Chinese American artist, farmer and community organizer from Lenapehoking, or so-called Queens, NY, The Revolutionary Mushroom creates art nourishing our Mother Earth, Each Other, and the Self.

Hannah Via Art (@hannah.via.art) — a print and fiber artist. Using tufting as her primary creative medium, she has been able to explore nature, queer identities, and the ways in which we self-soothe through art.

Flo Frequenci (@flofrequenci) — a space of divination, sass, energy healing and herbal magick. Tying together ancestral wisdom and personal experience, Flo utilizes divination, plant medicines and jewelry to help facilitate healing at the root and flourishing in the leaves. Flo’s goal is to empower, inform, and help folks connect to the earth and their lineages, with deep focus on queer BIPOC.

Boujiesaurus Boutique (@boujiesaurusboutique) — a funky, chic, hand-made accessory shop with a vibrant love for dinosaurs and the nostalgia they embody. Shop owner, Karley, is inspired by dinosaurs’ and their ability to spark the imagination! Karley identifies as non-binary and their creative personality and love for all things dinosaur is constantly reaching new limits each time scientists find striking similarities between dinosaurs’ gender traits.

Gabby Kash (@pinkgabbercat) — a trans masc psychedelic cat cartoonist.

Rugrat NYC (@therugratnyc) — at the intersection of cute and chaotic, Rugrat NYC is a Brooklyn-based rug tufter that makes 100% wool yarn floor rugs, wall hangings, and more!

Smiley Art Goods (@smileygoods) — specializes in handmade, embellished sunglasses, custom eyewear, and other accessories. Smiley Goods showcase all things old, weird, and wonderful with one-of-a-kind vintage charms, mirrored and colorful lens, colorful rhinestones, and unique gems.

MessQueen (@messqueen_newyork) — a clothing company specializing in handmade spandex wear for the young-at-heart souls of the universe. Their main styles focus on swimwear, festival/raver clothing, and ready-to-wear for all genders and body types. They make everything with their own hands and let nothing go to waste, e.g. You can find the MessQueen mobile shop popped up almost every weekend in the NYC-area, and in New Orleans during Mardi Gras season.

Sally Chen (@salpal.c) — a queer, non-binary, second-generation Chinese American multidisciplinary artist who’s born, raised, & based in Brooklyn, NYC. Through their work, they seek to create joy, laughter, instill softness, and maintain resiliency as often in a world that often feels too tough to be in.

Henna by SAHARAH (@saharahsoul) — a Sudanese-American henna artist, SAHARAH draws designs on the skin using all-natural henna, a beautiful adornment that signifies times of joy and celebration in her culture. SAHARAH brings intentions of connection, nourishment, love, healing and communion to whoever she does henna on.

The Rooted Zodiac (@therootedzodiac) — artwork, organic herbal, and aromatherapy products based on astrology that feature QTBIPOC ancestors.

Minty Acid (@minty.acid) — Ifé, otherwise known as Minty Acid, is a self-taught handpoke tattoo artist from the Caribbean. Ifé likes to work on fine line designs, whimsical themes, queer faes, botanical and esoteric imagery, both in color and in black & grey!

Enchanting Deco Shop (@enchantingdeco and @beygelstitch) — a duo team who create handmade items such as crochet and resin art!

Wear and Tear (@wear.and.tear) — by upcycling only second hand garments Wear and Tear throws a wrench in the fashion system that demands hyper-consumerism. New energy and new life is brought to clothing through deconstruction and evolve every time they are worn.

Marisol (@marisolvibracion) — an NYC native bruja, diviner, and astrologer. She offers tarot and astrology consultations, as well as spiritual baths and candles, from an intersectional, Black, brown, trans, and queer perspective.

We L.I.T! (@weliveintruth_welit) — the first Black trans/nonbinary affirmative candle company that focuses on the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of their community. We L.I.T! raises money through their candles to offer free candles to other Black and trans nonbinary folx.

Mylo Mendez (@handmademendez) — a muralist, illustrator, and designer originally from Houston, TX, and a 2015-2016 QAM Fellow.

Johnny Illescas (@johnnyillescas) — a queer Ecuadorian artist, exploring the playful and provocative forms in nature through clay, and what moves us to collect or cohabitate with objects that we bring into our spaces.

Ajna (@ajna_muse) — an NJ-born and raised spiritual baddie bringing you everything you didnt even realize you needed! She is selling used books, clothes, bags, zines, as well as perfumes with enhanced spiritual properties.

Andy Montes (@creepitona) — a 90’s and 2000’s vintage clothing vendor, selling items thrifted from around the world.

Sabii Borno (@sabiiborno) — a queer Illustrator/printmaker who loves the Risograph machine and comics!

Chaotic Neutral (@chaoticneutralny) — a playful exploration of the artist's (@priscachoe) Korean heritage, Chinese diasporic influences from her neighbors in Chinatown, and cherished motifs from her memories. Through whimsical jewelry pieces that are usually first designed as gifts for loved ones, she is able to share the beauty of the tension between transformation and conservation of culture.

2cartwo (@2cartwo) — a certified tattoo artist who specializes in water and aquatic life (they’re a pisces).

Bimbo in Limbo (@bimbo_inlimbo) — cute, one-of-a-kind necklaces to adorn bimbos, weirdos, and bffs. Each piece includes semi-precious stones and other beads for protection and prosperity.

Sora Studio (@sora___studio) — sculptural flower arrangements, inspired by ikebana. All work is made by Sofie Kusaba.

 
 

Pantano (@pantano__) — stainless steel chains with pendants collected in different random places. They automatically make you sexxyyy.

MiaKai Metals (@miakaimetals) — a Black owned jewelry brand that aims to create pieces that embrace the power of personal adornment and reflect the beauty and complexity of queer identity. Primarily focusing on making rings and chains using the lost wax casting method, each piece is carefully crafted by hand by Alexandra using high-quality materials, ensuring that every customer receives a truly one-of-a-kind piece that they can cherish for years to come.


After the vendor fair, afterparty hijinks ensue! Join us inside for performances by 2022 QAM Fellow Anh Vo, 2022 QA Prize Winner stefa marin alarcon, rapper Dualitè, and performance artist Crackhead Barney, and a screening of new video work by 2020 Illuminations Grant Winner Keioui Keijaun Thomas. To close out the night, the event will transition into Body Hack’s hallmark late night party guaranteed to burn until daybreak, with DJ sets by Archangel, Battyjack, Cisne, Deathrayz, DJ Delish, Soo Intoit, Sp3cial K, Zolita, Zaida Zane, and 8ulentina (8PM-6AM)!
