The following resources are organized chronologically and include grants, fellowships, residencies, and other opportunities for artists with deadlines between May and August. There are opportunities for visual artists, filmmakers, writers, poets, performers, curators, and more. The resources are arranged chronologically by their submission deadline. Eliza Moore Fellowship for Artistic Excellence - The Eliza Moore Fellowship for Artistic Excellence is awarded annually to one outstanding, early-career artist who is developing new works that address plants, gardens, or landscapes in the broad sense.  This is our most prestigious artist award and is open to visual artists, literary artists, dancers, and musicians. The award includes a $10,000 individual grant and requires a 2 - 8 week stay at the OSGF estate. This fellowship is granted to exceptional artists who show remarkable promise to contribute to a deeper understanding of the natural world, and humankind’s place in it.

The Beverly Art Writers Travel Grant to Australia - The Beverley is a US$10,000 grant awarded annually to an established American freelance writer who has an outstanding reputation for art journalism. The purpose of the grant is to foster cultural exchange, discussion, and coverage of the Australian contemporary visual arts community and its programs.

New York City Short Film Festival- The NEW YORK CITY SHORT FILM FESTIVAL (NYC SHORTS) is an international short film festival dedicated to the short form. Following our first-ever virtual festival in 2020, in 2021, NYC SHORTS will celebrate its 17th annual edition. The festival screenings will once again take place in-person (pandemic-permitting) at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space, a storied arts and film venue in Manhattan.

NewFest: The New York LGBTQ Film Festival - One of the world's largest and most respected annual celebrations of the year’s best queer films from the U.S. and abroad--featuring over 160 films from more than 30 countries, as well as special events that bring together filmmakers, celebrities, movie lovers, industry professionals, and the LGBTQ community. As part of NewFest’s Black Filmmakers Initiative, they are currently waiving festival submission fees for Black filmmakers with LGBTQ stories centering Black characters & voices. Artadia Awards - San Francisco - The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose.

Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival - This festival brings filmmakers from around the world to Cardiff, Wales, UK. Iris is home to the largest short film prize in the world – the coveted £30,000 Iris Prize.

The Disruptors Fellowship - The Disruptors Fellowship aims to disrupt the status quo in Hollywood to normalize narratives that have historically been underrepresented on television. This three-month-long fellowship will invest in emerging television writers and creators committed to their artistic practice and disrupting systems of oppression. It will support emerging television writers of color who identify as trans and/or non-binary, disabled, undocumented and/or formerly undocumented immigrants.

HollyShorts Film Festival - HollyShorts is an organization devoted to showcasing the best and brightest short films from around the globe, advancing the careers of filmmakers through screenings, networking events, and various panel and forums. The Academy Qualifying HollyShorts Film festival showcases the top short films produced 40- minutes or less.

Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival - Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival is the second longest-running film festival of its kind, and prides itself on showcasing the best LGBTQ+ films each year.

Encounters Film Festival - Encounters Film Festival stages one of the world’s leading international competitions for short film, animation and immersive moving image work. Their mission is to provide an international platform for new and emerging talent in filmmaking.

Chicago Film Festival - The Chicago International Film Festival celebrates the best that cinema has to offer. Showcasing films from established masters and emerging storytellers, the Festival welcomes films from around the world. Offering an impressive selection of competitive and non-competitive programming, the Chicago International Film Festival brings films both domestic and international to silver screens in Chicago.

Anonymous Was a Woman Environmental Art Grants - The Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants (AWAW EAG) program, administered by NYFA, will distribute a total of $250,000 in funding to support environmental art projects led by women-identifying artists in the United States and U.S. Territories.

ACE Artist in Residence - The ACE Artist in Residence Program provides an artist the opportunity to reflect, relax, and create in the inspiring mountains of Alta, Utah. The program is offered in partnership with the Alta Chamber and Visitors Bureau.

Node Center International Curatorial Program - The International Curatorial Program is an innovative eleven month online curriculum that combines learning and practice for emerging curators of contemporary art. Craft Archive Fellowship - The 2022 Craft Archive Fellowship will foster archival research on underrepresented and non-dominant craft histories in the United States, such as feminist, intersectional, queer, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other communities and approaches that may not be specifically listed here. The fellowship will support a range of scholars, including independent, artists, and emerging to established researchers.

NYSCA / NYFA Artists with Disabilities Grant - The NYSCA/NYFA Artists with Disabilities Grant program will distribute cash grants of $1,000 to artists with a disability who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis to cover art related expenses. The grant will be open to visual, media, music, performing, literary, and multidisciplinary artists who live in New York State outside of the five boroughs of NYC.

Seattle Queer Film Festival - The Seattle Queer Film Festival, a program of Three Dollar Bill Cinema, has been held annually in October since 1996. The festival has grown into the largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, gaining industry and audience recognition for showcasing the latest and greatest in queer film, from major motion picture premieres to emerging talent. An important venue in the Seattle film scene—and the social event of the season—the festival provides unique opportunities for visiting and local filmmakers to engage and entertain over 10,000 attendees.

Austin Film Festival Podcast Script Competition - “For this competition, we’re looking for ongoing, original, serialized stories. Writers can submit up to three episodes 3-30 pages in length of their series with the overall content of the story not going longer than 90 pages. Leeds International Film Festival - Founded in 1987 and one of the UK's leading film events, Leeds International Film Festival is renowned as a dynamic event with a reputation for challenging and innovative programming.
